Surasu Memorial Cultural Association remembered music maestro Johnson at a function held at Jawahar Bala Bhawan yesterday.
Therambil Ramakrishnan presided over the function. The MLA remembered Johnson as the prince of music who had an inborn talent.
"When he came to the limelight through the choir group 'Voice of Thrissur', he became the real voice of Thrissur," he said. He also announced the cabinet decision to give Rs 5lakh to the family of Johnson.
Renowned theatre activist CL Jose recalled Johnson as a musician who had the ability to make feel every scene through his compositions.
Director Ambili, Jayaraj Warrier, Viji Thampi, councillor Annam John, Joy Mannur, MD Rajendran also spoke at the function.
